CU Marketplace is the University’s official procurement system. It can be used to create purchase requisitions and place purchase orders.

Through Marketplace you can access the “punchout” catalogs for certain suppliers.

What, exactly, is a punchout? It’s basically a private version of the supplier’s website.

What does this mean to you? If you make your purchases through punchouts you get:

  • Discounted prices
  • It’s really easy to use
  • You don’t need a PCard and you don’t have to submit a PCard report!

Marketplace Punchout vendors include:

  • Amazon
  • Staples
  • Digikey
  • Newegg
  • CDW
  • B&H
  • Thermofisher
  • Agilent
  • VWR

Here are a couple of screenshots showing the available punchouts:

A couple of notes:

  • Office supplies should always be purchased through the Staples punchout.
  • Please consult with CIRES IT before purchasing anything IT related.
  • CIRES members located at DSRC may not be able to access CU Marketplace. They may have to rely on their FM or CIRES Purchasing to build their purchase requisitions.

There are two levels of access to CU Marketplace:

Shopper access (appropriate for most employees) allows you to fill a shopping cart and forward it to your FM or CIRES Purchasing to approve and submit the order.

As a shopper, you are encouraged to place orders through punchout suppliers. If you need to order from a non-punchout supplier, please ask CIRES Purchasing to build your requisition for you.

Requester access (appropriate for CIRES Purchasing and FM’s) allows you to complete more complex orders within the system.

How do you get access to CU Marketplace? Contact cirespurchasing@colorado.edu

We'll ask you to take a couple of trainings: https://www.cu.edu/controller/training/access-training-requirements

Once those are complete, CIRES Purchasing can get you set up in the system.
