  • Notify CIRES communications if one of your posts goes viral or if a reporter reaches out to you via social media

Avoid

  • Being a bully
  • Using your position at CIRES, CU, or NOAA for personal or financial gain on social media
  • Speak on behalf of CIRES, CU, or NOAA
  • Post anything defamatory, discriminatory, harassing, intimidating, offensive, or obscene
  • Posting content related to CIRES or CU business (institute or university finances, funding, staffing, etc.)
  • Posting content that could damage the reputation of CIRES, CU, or NOAA

Suggested hashtags: #CIRES #CEEE #NSIDC

From the CU system, if you want to integrate:

  • Professional conduct: Act with the same professionalism and ethical standards expected of any university employee, being respectful, positive, and helpful.
  • Privacy and confidentiality: Do not share any private, restricted, or sensitive information about the university, its students, faculty, or staff.
  • No political stance: Do not take a political stand on topics or legislation in your capacity as a university representative.
  • Intellectual property: Respect copyright and fair use principles when sharing content.
  • Brand assets: Do not use university logos or other official imagery on your personal social media accounts.
