In response to escalated global security threats, OIT will be implementing measures to strengthen multi-factor authentication (MFA) to better protect you, your data and CU Boulder’s shared information technology environment.

Here’s how to verify your Microsoft MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication):  

1. Save any open Microsoft files (Outlook Emails, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
2. Open the CU Microsoft MFA Management Tool to verify your device’s Microsoft MFA methods. 
    Please note: You must be on-campus or on the CU VPN to access this site.
3. Click on the MFA Validation button
4. Login with your Identikey@colorado.edu username and your IdentiKey password.
5. Select one of the authentication methods (Text, Call or Microsoft Authenticator (if available)):
   

   

6. Follow the prompt after making your selection to either enter the code, receive the call or enter the number provided by Microsoft Authenticator and click “Verify”.

   

7. If successful, you will be direct to the “Congratulations page”. Be sure to click the “Enroll in strengthened MFA service” button

   

8. You may be prompted to reauthenticate for all Microsoft services by using MFA. You should only need to do this once per device, or once per browsing session for web-based applications.

If your MFA methods are not working, learn how to find and update security info to add additional MFA methods and remove old ones. 

For additional security, you can set up the Microsoft Authenticator app.
