For a CU Graduate Student, If the work of the planned position supports their graduate research and/or their thesis or is in their field of Study, the Graduate Student should be appointed as a GRA (officially a Research Assistant (RA)). And that GRA appointment should be as a % time GRA semester contract appointment. But if student already has a full GRA semester contract for the period of the new work, they are limited to the restrictions specified in the Graduate Student Appointment Manual for an hourly GRA. Please see the Graduate Student Appointment Manual 2025-2026 (attached).  But in special cases a Graduate Student can also be appointed to a Student Assistant position instead of a GRA appointment, if the work that they will do will not support their graduate research and is not within their field of Study.  In those special cases, you can follow the Student Assistant Job descriptions for a Student Assistant appointment.
